About Ed Durkee
Ed Durkee is the President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Central Florida (GICF), a nonprofit social enterprise serving Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Volusia counties for over 60 years. Leading a dedicated team of more than 1,400 employees, Ed has driven transformative growth since assuming the role in January 2020.
Under his leadership, GICF has nearly doubled annual revenue, introduced the “Prosperity Planning” initiative to support employees’ financial goals, launched a fully prepaid college tuition program known as Goodwill Scholars, and increased hourly wages by more than 60%. These efforts are complemented by significant improvements in workplace safety and sustainability, including diverting nearly 24 million pounds of clothing and household items from landfills in 2024.
With more than 23 years of experience in the Goodwill network, Ed has held leadership roles with affiliates in Indianapolis, IA; Eugene, OR; Salinas, CA; and Sacramento, CA. His career highlights include overseeing Indiana’s Workforce Investment Act, creating affordable housing programs, and establishing Prosperity Centers in Oregon, California, and Florida to help individuals achieve economic stability.
A champion of social justice and economic inclusion, Ed was recognized as one of Orlando’s 50 Most Powerful People of 2024. He holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and a master’s degree in journalism from Indiana University. Ed currently resides in Orlando with his wife, Janas.
