Today’s Mission Moment is told from the perspective of Michael Stridacchio, a Central Florida business owner who has partnered with Goodwill’s Community Employment and Training program. His story highlights the power of Goodwill’s mission of “Building Lives that Work” through on-the-job training and employment.
“Hello, my name is Michael Stridacchio, owner of Knuckle Sandwich & Catering. For the past two years, we’ve collaborated with programs that teach people with special needs through hands-on experience. Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming Joel into our team through Goodwill’s program. Working with Joel these past several months has been amazing. Watching him grow and acquire skills within the restaurant industry has brought immense joy to our team here at Knuckle Sandwich.
When Joel first joined our team, he was timid and reserved, unsure of his place in the bustling world of our restaurant. But with patience, support, and the structured guidance provided by the staff, Joel began to flourish.
Joel has eagerly embraced the opportunity to learn and develop new skills. From mastering culinary techniques to whipping up dishes like my mom’s meatballs, which taste just like home, Joel has proven himself to be a dedicated and capable employee. He was recently recognized as our Employee of the Month for January. With a loving family at home and a supportive network here at our restaurant, Joel has found a place where he can grow and contribute meaningfully.
We want to thank Goodwill and their staff for putting together this program and providing us with awesome people.”
