#MissionMoment: Fannie’s story is one of inspiration and determination. As an AARP client, she came to Goodwill Industries of Central Florida seeking an opportunity to gain meaningful training experience through our partnership with AARP at the South Orange Blossom Trail (SOBT) store in Orlando. From the moment she joined, Fannie demonstrated an extraordinary level of commitment and enthusiasm that quickly set her up for success and longevity.
Working as a stock clerk associate, Fannie embraced every task with a sense of pride and dedication. Whether organizing merchandise or assisting customers, she approached each responsibility with a positive attitude and a contagious smile. Her efforts have not only exceeded expectations but have also left a lasting impression on her colleagues and supervisors.
Fannie’s success also highlights the impact of the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) offered by AARP. This program, funded by the U.S. Department of Labor, provides training and employment opportunities for low-income, unemployed individuals aged 55 and older. Through SCSEP, participants like Fannie gain the skills and experience needed to re-enter the workforce, often leading to permanent employment.
