#MissionMoment: Paola’s “Goodwill story” is a remarkable example of how perseverance and dedication can lead to success. Since her arrival in the United States from Venezuela in December 2018, Paola has made significant strides in building a new life for her family. With a background in business administration and entrepreneurial experience from running a successful small business in her home country, she has continued to advance her professional skills in the U.S.
Upon joining Goodwill in August 2022, Paola became a member of the Prosperity Planning program at the Kissimmee Store. Working with her Prosperity Planner, Hector Perez-Segnini, Paola took advantage of the financial and career guidance to further achieve her goals. Recognizing the importance of language proficiency in her professional and personal development, Paola has been actively participating in English ESOL classes offered through the Goodwill Scholars program, a unique pre-paid tuition scholarship program to any Florida-state public university, college, or accredited technical college and trade school.
Her dedication to continuous learning and adaptation has recently been highlighted by a milestone achievement — Paola and her husband have become homeowners, securing their first house in the United States. A product of Prosperity Planning, another employee benefit unique to GICF part-time and full-time team members, this accomplishment stands as proof of their resilience and hard work, underlining Paola’s belief in the abundance of opportunities available to immigrants.
Paola’s journey and success are not only inspirational but also emblematic of the potential that Goodwill Scholars and employment at Goodwill Industries of Central Florida can unlock for individuals striving to build prosperous futures in a new land.
