Goodwill Industries of Central Florida (GICF) would like to announce that we have been awarded a generous grant of $125,000 from the Truist Foundation. This significant financial support will be instrumental in advancing our Prosperity Platform, a program designed to empower individuals and families in Central Florida to achieve their career and financial aspirations through goal setting, planning, and coaching.
The Prosperity Platform, launched in 2021, has already made a significant impact on the community, serving 70 individuals and families in its inaugural year, 353 in 2022, and an impressive 515 individuals and families so far in 2023. With the program’s infrastructure firmly established and an ever-growing demand for its services, strategic partnerships, like the one with Truist and the Truist Foundation, are paramount in expanding its reach.
The grant from the Truist Foundation is aligned with their “Building Career Pathways to Economic Mobility” pillar, which focuses on enhancing opportunities for individuals to improve their economic well-being. Specifically, the grant funds will be utilized to support various strategic program areas within this pillar, including:
1. Helping workers navigate employment resources: The Prosperity Platform will further streamline and improve access to essential employment resources, making it easier for individuals to find and secure employment opportunities that align with their goals.
2. Building capacity of reskilling and upskilling programs: The grant will enable the expansion and enhancement of programs that equip individuals with the skills needed to thrive in the modern job market, ensuring they are well-prepared for new career opportunities.
3. Strengthening access to high-quality employment and worker protections: The Prosperity Platform will work to enhance access to high-quality employment options and improve worker protections, empowering individuals to build a more secure and prosperous future.
4. Improving coordination and sharing knowledge within the workforce system: Through the grant, the Prosperity Platform will develop more robust coordination and knowledge-sharing tools within the workforce system, enabling a more efficient and effective approach to helping individuals achieve economic mobility.
The partnership between GICF and the Truist Foundation underscores a shared commitment to “Building Lives that Work” through building stronger, more resilient communities and advancing economic mobility for all. Goodwill Industries of Central Florida extends its heartfelt appreciation to the Truist Foundation for their ongoing support and dedication to creating lasting change in Central Florida.
