Vocational Rehabilitation Services at Goodwill

Goodwill Industries of Central Florida assists the Florida Department of Education Vocational Rehabilitation Division as a vendor. Our Services:

Pre-Placement Training

Twenty (20) hours of formal, interactive, and structured face-to-face/virtual training for adults, consisting of both lecture and hands-on activities. Activities include:

  1. résumé writing
  2. interviewing skills instruction
  3. searching for and applying for jobs online
  4. finding and completing job applications
  5. managing employer initial contacts
  6. handling conflicts
  7. navigating public transportation
  8. a review of client’s employment benefits, if applicable

Self-Advocacy Training

Self-Advocacy Training is a service designed to prepare individuals how to better communicate their strengths, abilities, interests, and needs when interviewing with potential employers or applying to trade schools, colleges, or universities.

Work-Based Learning Program (Youth)

The Work-Based Learning Program is training conducted at the workplace to provide students with the knowledge and skills that will help them connect school experiences to real-life work activities and future career opportunities.

On-The-Job Training (OJT – Adults)

On-the-Job Training (OJT) is a time-limited individual skill acquisition program that can be learned on the job. On-the-Job Training occurs in an integrated, community-based employment setting. OJT clients are paid at minimum wage and above. OJT participants interact with individuals without disabilities to the same extent that other individuals in comparable positions interact with other persons.

Employment Services

Employment services assist individuals with a disability to obtain or maintain competitive, integrated employment, consistent with the unique strengths, abilities, interests, and informed choices of the individual.

Supported Employment

Supported employment assists individuals with a most significant disability* obtain competitive, integrated employment, including customized employment. This service is individualized, consistent with the unique strengths, abilities, interests, and informed choice of the individual, with ongoing support services.

*Individuals with the most significant disabilities include those for whom competitive integrated employment has not historically occurred, or for whom competitive integrated employment has been interrupted or intermittent as a result of a significant disability; and who, because of the nature and severity of their disabilities, need intensive supported employment services and extended services after the transition from support provided by the designated State unit, in order to perform this work.
